OK am back now. Firstly i just want to say I can't believe that they used to tie women to the bed and just leave them all alone at a time when they need all the support they can get. Women in America need to be educated and told about all the options that are available to them. Choosing to do a C-sec without even checking whether or not the woman is high risk is unbelieveable. The Doctors taking advantge of women like that is unfair. Lets put the women that have no choice to a side. What about the women who choose to have a C-sec? What can be done about that? I think the suggestion made in the video was really good that if more celebrities had natural births then this might change some womens views about giving birth and they may look at it from a diffrent perspective. At the end of the day it is linked with the lack of money from the Government. Sadly those midwives in the video had to close down because they just weren't making enough money. Anyways share your views and sorry for the late reply

I'll tell you my fave bit shall I? Well the midwife has no need for gloves scrubs etc..... Nor has she got high rates/if any rates of infection (just goes to show eh?) and all the babies that are born in the water do not instantly scream shout cry etc, they have a nice normal relaxed transition into the outside world, with nobody panicking, pressing the emergency buzzer rushing to cut the cord and give Synt etc.... The baby simply takes its time all nice and calm, now they are my best bits (oh and of course the taxi driver when he says "just breathe!!") x

Wow! They are my favourite bits too!!!

I am so desperately sad that although I have seen births and reasonably normal, I have never had the ultimate honour of witnessing true normality in a home birth, and seeing a midwife therefore be truly wth woman.

I think that's why I am so fed up tbh.

I am really passionate about normality and had an outburst moment in uni on monday when we were discussing caring fro a homebirthing mother in early labour and everyone stated they would do obs...I said but why are we doing obs? this is medicalising labour already? which though well-received by the lecturer was not so well received by those who had mentioned it!

Oh well....

GGGGGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you go, do what you feel is best, its good to share your passion, its a shame that your other students don't share it (is that not the reason the came into the profession, how easy they forget eh???) such a pity, this video shows the attitude of the obs over in America, even though people would say its none transferrable because its in America that is so untrue, we see this on a daily basis, but over here its not just the docs, some of the midwives have lost their way too, and they are as quick to medicalise childbirth (its ingrained isn't it??) such a shame x
