I'm going to have loads of free time between now and september so was wondering if anyone could recommend some books for me to read ready for sept ( if i get accepted ).

I'm not an SM yet, but I too have been reading.
do you read any journals? and have you tried doing the workbook from here? not sure about other books - am sure there must be loads though and these good people on here can guide you in the right direction.
fingers crossed for you!
A x

The Midwife-Mother relationship edited by Mavis Kirkham is a nice book to read. Study skills handbook by Stella Cotteral is worth a read. Not just for midwifery, but it gives a good insight into what they will expect from you and how to achieve it.

I think journals are a good start and also anything about normal pregnancy and birth etc. Don't read up on anything abnorormal as the chances are it won't be much use in your first year.

Happy reading
