Thanks for your reply, makes perfect sense.

Another Q - stations and engagement - are they directly related? i.e. can you be 1/5th engaged but at +1 station say or fully engaged (5/5th) but only -3 station?

they are directly related (see the lovely first pic) abdominal palpation is indicative of station and not invasive. So utilised during antenatal care, whereas palpation is used on admission to labour ward and complemented by vaginal examination.



station relates to the ischial spines in the pelvis, the bony protuberances inside the pelvic cavity.

yup, no rest was well worth it, quiet last night, and one baby (whose mother I thought hated me, she was pretty abusive during the birth!) but gave me a huge hug when I handed her over!
