Default CCCU students - where else did you apply?

Hi all

I'm in Kent, so applying to CCCU is obviously the best answer for me (plus having a family means I don't have to uproot them!).

I was just wondering what other uni's you guys applied for when you applied for CCCU? I'm guessing it was the London or Surrey ones? Did any of you just apply at CCCU only?

Thanks for any help - I'm just wondering for when I apply what other uni's it may be beneficial in looking at, in case applying at only one is a bad thing to do!

Thank you

Sharon x

I only applied to CCCU.

I did (after interview, fearing I would not get in) look at Brighton uni, surrey, King's, and Greenwich. Thankfully I didn't have to apply to these and made it as they would've been a struggle to get to.

What will you do?

I only applied to CCCU too. Like you I have a young family, it would be impractical to apply to far away from home with out moving base, and for me that was not viable, if you to commute from home to a uni that is quite a way away you have to remember that placements can be pot luck and could be 30-40 miles further than the university which may add hours to driving to and throw on top of a 12.5 hours shift.

So for many reasions the benifits of a close university for me far out weighed the ones that were further away. therefore CCCU was my only choice.

Hi Sharon

I only applied to CCCU as I am settled here - no kids, but all my family are quite close by and I didn't want to leave them. If I hadn't got in this time I would have applied to Brighton and CCCU next time. I lived in Brighton for a few years and really like it, but don't want to move away from my family again.
If you did apply to more than one place and got interviews at more than one, then at least you would have more interview experience.
Good luck,
Ani x

Just CCCU for me too! And only the Canterbury campus as I live a whole 10 min walk away and I have a young family so couldn't look too far afield. My placement is a 40min drive away which at first i was a bit wary of but now i've had my first placement i LOVE it and wouldn't change it for the world!

I wanted CCCU but applied, Bedford, City, Cardiff, Salford and another that I cannot remember. lol. I am very very happy that I did get in because I chose the others so loosely.

I applied to CCCU as my first choice but also to Greenwich as a back up. Fortunately, I was offered both Uni's and chose my first choice.

Thank you for your replies. It's great that almost all of you only applied at CCCU as it makes me feel better that it's ok to just apply at one. Even if I got into another one, I think they'd all be too far away for me unless we moved, which isn't really an option at the moment. Plus I'm probably in the middle of the Canterbury & Medway campus's so could get to either quite easily.

And I hate interviews anyway! lol!

Thanks for the invite ollybolly - will get over there straight away I have read a few posts but hadn't got round to joining yet.

Thanks again all

I only applied to cccu as i ahve a young family and my childcare is my mum so if it had been further away it would have ment more pressure on her and that wasnt fair.
