Default Does SM only stand for student midwife?

Many apologies is this is a ridiculous Q.

But does SM only stand for Student Midwife? I recently received my labour notes from hospital and noticed the midwife's position was 'SM' but I'm fairly sure she wasn't a student (as I wasn't informed of this and there was never anyone else in attendance). I thought RM was the normal title?

I'm thinking Staff/Sister Midwife..?
