I loved practising injections at uni but when it came to the real thing!!!!

The first time my midwife 'covered' my hand to help me, but I still let go when needle was in her butt as i thought I'd put it in too far!!! Oooops. I did give the injection though and poor woman was non the wiser.

the second time, I did it on my own (midwife with me of course) and I'd just put needle in and she pulled away and the needle came back out of her butt!!! So I then had to inject her again, it was successful that time

Roll on my third attempt!

Is it wrong that I enjoy giving injections? LOL.
Mind you, it has mostly been diamorphine I have injected and the woman has been in too much pain to notice it, or has begged for it and thanked me for it .. LOL. Definitely not so keen on doing the Vit K injections.

I was quite nervous to begin with then in time I became confident then when I went on my non midwifery placement and didnt administer any for ages I lost confidence again. It soon returned but that 'time out' can be tricky with consistency..

The only injections I have given so far have been Vit K to babies. Now we have been told we can no longer give these. this is due to Patient Group Directives apparently.
