Last saturday I was on my way home from a day on community on a bus and we came across an awful car crash!

No one was helping and the bus driver said he could not turn so we were going to wait until the road was cleared!

So I was brave and thought, well I ahve some knowledge of first aid I Have to go help (I am a 1st year stmw)

I got out and walked towards the 1st car, the front was completley smashed in and I found a driver with his legs crushed and blood pouring onto the floor, obs rang ambulance and then I was keeping the man conscious and talking, whilst trying not to think about what I could see.

The other car involved had 2 men in it and one walked over to me, I asked if he was ok and he siad he was feeling very tingly so I told them both to lie on the grass and keep still.

When the 3 ambulances, 2 fire engines and helicopter came I helped by holding one of the other men's head still.

When I got home I was shaking and didnt stop until about 4 hours later! Too much responsibility for me and it was really horrible!

Bad times but Im glad I helped because I really think I made a difference but wow I can't belive I knew what to do and didnt freak out!

That must have been an awful thing to see kittykat, well done for keeping calm and going over the help. Too often these days people just don't help, they walk on by, or 'leave it to someone else' which is very sad.

Well done, you should be very proud of yourself for being the good samaritan!
It takes a lot of courage to do that and not think "oh someone else will know what to do".

Well done, not many people would actually offer to help, or even stop.

Honey, what u did was very brave and Im sure made a huge difference to all the men involved in the accident. Just wanted to say well done. Make sure u take the time to deal with what u saw as clearly u were shocked by it all. Karen
