Advice needed please

Hi,

I am on call for a home birth at the moment and to cut a long story short I phoned the woman yesterday to give her my number so that her husband could phone me when she went into labour as there are 2 teams on call and my mentor advised me to do this as I may not have been called. Anyway she told me that she had had a show on Monday. I haven't been on labour ward yet but from the books I've read I got the impression that labour should have started by now. One of the other girls in my year said that she thinks she should be seen in hospital. Can someone give me some clarity on this as I'm not sure if the woman has told her midwife or not and I'm kinda concerned that this could be bad and I gaven't taken any action on it.

Sorry if this sounds really stupid but I know that someone here will soon help clear this up for me!

No dont worry Karen women can have a show several days before
labour! Its just an early sign that their cervix is thinking about labour
for some women it happens all on the same day but for most its several
days before. So dont worry its fine i'll keep my fingers crossed you get
a call soon let us know how it goes!!
