Default help about sweep pleeaassee

My friend is having a sweep next week as her baby is measuring two weeks bigger her gestational age.
The baby was 3/5 engaged last week and my friend said she has felt little movement today (which I advised her to get checked out)

She had dropped loads, I think baby should be here very soon . From anyone's experience, what are the chances of her going into labour from the sweep on monday?

If the sweep doesn't work, will they induce her? (consultant won't let her go over) She has SPD and carpel tunnel with very swollen feet, I think she's had enough now and wants to meet her daughter!!

Thanks in advance x x x x x x x

This is her second baby by the way, if that makes any difference

What is her gestation?

From personal experience I started contracting about 6 hours after having a sweep at 40+5

It depends on many things. If her cervix is already starting to soften than she stands a better chance. The fact that it's her 2nd babe means the midwife has a better chance of getting her fingers between the cervix and membranes to do the stretch and sweep too, again improving her chances.

At the end of the day though, if baby isn't ready yet, the stretch and sweep won't do much. Fingers crossed for her, she sounds to be having a rough time, and keep us posted

My sister had a sweep at 39 weeks on Weds 30th April... She had her son on Thurs 1st May!!

Usually they are supposed to work within 24-48hours if they are going to work at all!
