Default DEVOTION

Hi there i just wanted to share this sad but heartfelt suituation. As you are all aware i work on a elderly ward, well at the moment i will call hime patient B this poor guy came in with parkinson and ca (cancer). He was ok very confused but his wifwe came in everyday and wanted him home so badly that she even got a bed put in the living room, well unfortunatly this gentleman has taken a turn for the worst and since november i have never seen such devotion his wife has moved onto the ward. She comes and goes and just sits attentivley with him lovingly it is such a sad sad suituation but such devotion is beautiful to see.
I just thought i would share this with you all nothing to do with midwifery but hey ho x

She is so strong and keepin it together well atm. Grief effects us in different ways, but i'm sure she will be fine as i feel that she lost her real husband wen the parkinsons got hold of him.

I work in a similar ward, with dementia and alzheimers patients. Its amazing the love and devotion the families show even tho they are preparin for the sad eventuality.
Dunno if I could be so strong if faced with such a situation.
Truly lovely x

I saw a very similar devotion whilst on my alternative placement last week. It was from a daughter to her father he had just been told that his cancer was not treatable and that he probably had approx 3-4 monthes to go.

his wife had died so he was on his own she did not want him to die in hospital or a hospice so decided to move down here and put her life on hold to care for him. She moved into his house and was looking after him so that he could die in his own surroundings.

I hold my hand up to her as that is a hard job for anyone to see there loved one go dwon hill before them.
