hi all.
my name is kel, and i will be applying for midwifery in 2010. i have to do a years course on social sciences first, and had planned to do this this year, but am now pregnant with my 3rd child, so will be starting next year instead. i am really looking forward to getting to know you all. now for my q.....i really hope you dont mind me asking this, but im having trouble finding info, and am worried sick.... im 18 weeks, and have a horrrible feeling im in Preterm Labour! i have placenta previa too (dont know if that helps with info) anyways, all day today, i have had what felt like braxton hicks, but more regular and painful (uncomfortable). i feel sick and i have back ache. my Waters have not broken, and i def dont have a urine infection. i timed the 'contractions' earlier and they were coming every 10 mins. however, the baby is sort of poking out a little...maybe its back??....so i found it difficult to feel with my hands if my stomach was tightening or not, but i def felt it inside. please can someone give me a little advice?? if you need any more info, just ask, and a huge thank you. x |

hi kel-firstly welcome to the site- i too am a kel
congrats on ur pregnancy! first of all- have you rang delivery suite (or wherever ur planning to have your baby) or your community midwife for advice? and if so what did they say? I'm not great shakes at advice or anything, being a first-year, but (maybe a stupid question) is there any possibility you could be unwell, like with a bug or anything? My advice would be ring to get advice (haha) and in the meantime, have a bath, try and relax and keep an eye on things to see if they are becoming more uncomfortable or more regular. please keep us posted, i hope that helps a little xxxxxx

Hii. Welcome to the site!! and congratulations on your pregnancy.
Aww don't for one minute feel you would be wasting the midwives time, I'm sure they will be more than happy to help. And would much rather you rang than sat there worrying. I would definitely ring them, as stated above. From my own experience I had terrible braxton hicks from about 4 months:-( hope all is well x x x x x |

Keli, please ring your midwife darling, if not to put your mind at rest then do it for me !!
Explain all the things that have been happening to you over the past couple of days, it may be nothing and if it is then you can stop worrying. Personally i would be a little concerned over the discharge, but a phonecall is all it takes, dont think you are being a nuisance they are there to advise you. Will you post later to let us know ?? XX

Call delivery suite or your community midwife if you're worried. I don't think anyone is supposed to give medical advice on the forum.
Welcome and good luck x
