Adverts already!! The british woman, she had an awful previous experience that is true but it struck me how she relayed her story with reference 'the midwife' all the time and then ended by generalising that all midwives are the same. I feel that is a bit unfair to all the midwives out there who do still want to give women the births they want.

Default Unassisted births ! your views please on channel 5 show

Hi all,
I am currently watching a programme on channel 5, with women giving birth with noone present. No midwives either.

I am quite disappointed that the women do not want midwives present. But why?

Home births are amazing experiences as I have had 2. However why would women feel they can't have this experience with a midwife present?

Surely safety should be of importance at all times. My midwife during my labour hardly intervened so surely these women could have the same experience with or without a midwife. So the comfort of a midwife there and her skills is an advantage surely. Labour can suddenly turn so surely a midwife is a must?

Please can I have your views
Many Thanks
Carla

Tis bad that they refused her any more antenatal care after they found out her birth plan though, and threatening her that it was illegal, kinda proved her point about midwives being too controlling.
