June, things should change as far as the financing for the degree is concerned when there is not the alternative of the diploma? Or are we all then going to be subjected to means-testing when we weren't previously? That sounds like a shocking travesty to me...
Olly, I've just checked online and they no longer mention the diploma. However, I'm not sure about this September - I have a feeling that March was the final intake for the diploma...

[quote] That's exactly what it is IMHO. If there are no diplomas and no funding then its going to exclude a whole cross section of applicants, not just mature students but young students who's parents have a 'middle class' income. Anyhow... spoke with a colleague today who suggested something I hadnt thought of which is that I take the minimum amount of time off (6-8 weeks) and slot back in to the programme I'm on now. Going to speak to my personal tutor in a week or so when she's back from hols. Meanwhile, just trying to get through end of term stuff amidst usual round of throat viruses (my youngest was v poorly today...) Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and support

June, that just sounds like torture though! So exhausting all round, especially catching up with missed hours...
And I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I've got two friends who've been in the same boat and "The School" has been extremely reluctant to let them stay in placement beyond about 24 weeks. I hope you can work it out - where there's a will there really is a way! xxx

went to sleep when put children to bed and now awake....
Yes NikkiBunny and Ollybolly, having seen some women in AN clinic this week who are working in late pg it does make me question my ability, especially as I'll be 'learning' and have 3 other children. Just making comparison to how I feel now at beginning of pg... I dont think it is realistic to work much past 30 wks (uni havent said btw what cut off is but didnt question my intended leaving date) Suppose what I dont know is how little time I can take before resuming or do I need to pick up at the module that I left IYSWIM? Anyway have decided to put to back of mind for time being and concentrate on getting through this part of pg.....
