I think that's probably the biggest no-no, as far as professionalism... week in, week out there is some professional or other in the red top papers being exposed as a part-time dominatrix / high-class call girl etc

Alcohol use is so widespread that the line that people draw varies greatly. I've known many people (and in my youth I was one) who see no problem with going in to work with a hangover. This is something I wouldn't dream of doing as an SM / RM because the risk is too great.

I think it's all down to common sense really. If you would be disappointed in a nurse / policeman / vicar / teacher who behaved in a certain way, don't behave like that!

I'm heavily tattooed, and not many people at work know, but sometimes I'll use it as an ice-breaker with women who have tattoos themselves. I wouldn't dream of getting my tats out willy-nilly at work, but in my own time I sometimes wear short sleeves and skirts so they can be seen. I'm hoping it will never be an issue, but I'm sure sooner or later someone will say something...

As adults we know the type of activity we should and shouldn't get into. If we choose to ignore those that are 'acceptable' that is our choice but we need to remember the consequences of choosing that option.

I would personally think that any activity I wish to undertake in my recreational time, I should feel totally 'unashamed' about. Especially if I had to stand up in front of a panel/court/board. If I couldn't honestly feel that way then I would have to seriously think about NOT doing it.

I agree totally that it comes down to common sense.

Shall we set up an Independent Practice together? I'm brilliant at tieing myself up in knots

Pah, it's not supposed to be a DIY knot tying! Where's the fun in that? I have to say though, in defense of my few dominatrix friends, there is a HUGE difference between being an escort and being a dominatrix. One involves sex and the other doesn't.

Unfortunately LE, the NMC is unlikely to see it!

Well actually, it will down to the discretion of the SoM who dealt with the issue to start with. Things like these should be dealt with locally. Personally, what someone does in their personal time is their own business as far as I am concerned.

Where do you personally draw the line tho LE ? Are there no behaviours (legal) that you think would bring midwifery into disrepute?

Also, thinks........How would 'they' prove you were offering more than just conversation for sale - they would have to engage your services and then doesn't that make them just as guilty?
