Circumcision, is it mutilation?

My sister-in-law lives in the states and it is utterly normal to have your baby boy circumcised after birth. It's another thing that is ticked off alongside cord clamped, baby weighed, fingers and toes counted, and vit K given. I was horrified when she told me, but she was excited about it and really couldn't see what the fuss was about - she is 'preventing her son from a lifetime of malfunction and infection'????!!!!! I personally could NEVER do this to my son unless it was medically indicated.
