I am loving this thread sooo much, I am giggling out loud and have frightened my cats!!!!! I am sure my lovely cohort buddy will not mind me sharing her most embarassing moment, as she had us in stitches when she finally owned up and told us!!!

X was taking the baby at section for the first time, she had scrubbed and her mentor handed her the soft sheet to receive babe, and a pair of scissors. Babe was delivered and the doc clamped the cord......X promptly leaned over and cut the cord!!!!!!! The docs face was a picture and an audible gasp went up in theatre......X got the babe to the resuscitaire and asked her hysterical mentor what she had done wrong.........mentor informed her that the scissors were to trim the cord at the resus and the doctor ALWAYS clamps and cuts the cord!!!!!!!! Mentor also asked X if she realised that she had placed the used scissors slap bang on the sterile field!!!!!!

I will share some of mine as soon as I have dredged them up from that dark place I have hidden them ;-)

oh no, am really cringing for her!! the most embarrasing stuff always happens in theatres.
she would have probably been shot right there and then where i work!!

I managed to catheterise a vagina in theatre the other day...great!
On the same day was in a section where Reg cut and kept on going right into SHO's hand!! think it might have been shos fault for having hand inwrong place though! She was shouted at to leave the table and contain her bleeding elsewhere! was really embarassing. Poor girl had to send her blood and womans blood to Oc Health for infection testing

Well have only had 5 weeks of placement so far, in the community.

I've managed to advise a woman to make sure she cooks her lettuce thoroughly and wrote primate on her notes instead of primip!

Not bad going for only being on the course 4 months!!

I love the primate one - proper lol from me there!

Mine isn't specifically midwifery related, but had my mentor and another midwife in stitches yesterday... I had been attending to a woman who was labouring in the pool and left the room to stretch my legs and get a drink. I was stood by the front desk and let rip a silent trump that I just knew would be deadly, just at the moment the Reg walked up. I just said, "I'm dreadfully sorry, I've just broken wind". I don't know why I suddenly changed from being a Northern monkey to an upper class twit, and have no idea who was more embarrassed - me or the Reg!
