Default Quick question but something i'm worried about!

If you fail an exam while on the Midwifery course, do you get thrown off the course or fail the course?! Is there a chance to retake it?

Thanks

Yes always Keeley, the same goes with failed essays too!

There is usually two more chances (but this varies between uni's)

You can also put in mitigating circumstances before essays subs and exams if you are having tough times at homes, this gives you more chances should you need it

hth?

I don't know if all uni's are the same but I believe with where I am going, you get one chance to resubmit assignments or resit an exam and if you fail twice then you are off the course.

Hi Keeley, I havn't started yet but I know someone is year 1 at my uni whos told me you get 2 chances at assignments and exams, which sounded ok to me.... untill she told me her drug calculations exam requires 100% to pass ekkkkkkk! I hope its not the same with all the exams! xx

yes with my uni you get another chance but the grade is capped at a D-, but dont worry, as long as you put the work in you should be fine, and support is available too, the unis want you to pass and do well.

mummy3monsters, my drugs exam you had to get 80% to pass, which i nearly died when i heard about- i didn't think there was any chance i could pass it because my maths is dire- i didn't even pass GCSE, i even kept on working after the exam because i thought i had totally failed it, and when i got the results back i found out i had got 100%. Drugs is honestly just formulas you have to learn and set principles, i'm sure you will be fine

This may be a stupid question, but for the drugs exam are you able to use a calculator or does it have do be done in your head?

I am rubbish at maths if I don't have a calculator to hand!

Hi keeley,
While I was on my foundation course for healthcare in uni, our tutors also worked on the nursing course too and mentioned to the girls that they need to get 100% in the drug exams. The girls were a bit panicedby this but our tutor replied with imagine its a 100 people instead and if you get 99% that means that possible one death!! Bit dramatic but I got her point, there is no room for error when dealing with peoples lives. However, like butterfly mentions once you learn the principle its just changing the figures then. All the best!! for when you start and i'm sure you will be fine

Hey don't be worrying about things like this before you start, be positive, revise lots work hard, and you'll be great, don't let things like faling get to you or else you will be a nervous wreck, have passion for what your doing, hold that firm, always believe in the reasons you came into the profession x

Yep-two chances; well one go then another chance if you fail however in the following go you can only achieve the minimum mark for a pass which may affect your Degree mark in the end. As for mitigation-well there have to be really good reasons and i dont think you can mitigate much!! Drugs calculations exam have to have `100% to pass. If you fail, again you get one more chance then bye bye if you fail.No pressure huh?
