Default What are your 'must do' tips?

Following on from a thread I started in general chat about ideas we could share with each other. I thought it might be good to have one relating to midwifery, the course, exams....anything relating to studying really. They can be glaringly simple, or unique to you, maybe we can all learn something that will help us from each other.

When given handouts etc at uni, file them away as soon as you can, that way you know where they are when you need them for assignments, revision etc.

Update your PDP and portfolio as you go along, not the day before it is due in for checking.

When writing assignments, keep a written list of the full references you have used as you go along. It saves having to spend hours searching for them at the end.

Over to you.....

Writing the date and name of the lecturer on the top of handouts - and then don't randomly empty your bag where-ever. Even better - don't use your handbag as your college bag - that way you won't have to just keep emptying, emptying, emptying with no organisation whatsoever - you'd never catch me doing a uselessly unhelpful thing like that nooooo - that would be crazy if I felt the need to pass anything - ever!!

God sorry, I'm on a bit of a one today aren't I - must be hysteria setting in!!

Hahaha Norman, You sound like me!

By the end of semester one, I had handouts and all kinds of other 'important' paperwork' all over the house.

It took me ages to find it all and put it into a file. As you can imagine, from semester two I have been much more organised lol.

Wish I could say the same - thats partially why I'm chasing my tail with this exam as even now I have no idea where anything is! It's officially tokenistic my attending any kind of teaching at college as I don't retain the verbal info and the written stuff they give me I obviously file somewhere soooo safe that even I don't know where it is! I'd like to say I'll do better next year - but I fear I won't

I have made myself put all the handouts etc together in one place, then every few weeks I go through them and put them in a lever arch file. That way I know where they are if I need them.

Your right, I'm going to turn over a new leaf over the summer and get organised - even if it is just to have the one pile! x

Yay, great news Norman, one pile is better than several all over the house lol.

Date EVERYTHING

If you've a big exam tomorrow and you've been revising for weeks and getting stressed... Just go to bed... It isn't going to go in in that state ANYWAY, so sleep it off and refresh yourself for the big day

Haha, that was always me! Still, I seem to retain it better with last minute revision. If I learn it in advance, then on the day, I completly forget it all - but a 36 hour marathon session usually has me remembering everything.
