Well, I have four children but nowhere near starting yet! My youngest is 8 months old but I expect she will be about 2, nearly 3 when I start the degree course. My DH is very supportive and works from home but we will still need a nanny. My other 3 children are 10, 9 and 6 years now. I am expecting it to be tough but I am sure it will be extremely rewarding and I will need to keep very focussed!!

Hi, I have 3 boys, aged 10, 6 and 4. I'm starting uni in may and the plan is that they are at school full time very best friend and bril neighbour will pick them up til OH gets there, to take them home. On nights OH will take them to school. Hopefully this is a good plan and will get me through the 3 years!!!
Fingers crossed. LOL |

Hi
I have two children 5 and 8. My OH works for the NHS and so between us a few good friends and a childmminder we are hoping it will work out. I am hoping to start in September and have tried to plan as much as possible but will have to start first to see if it will work. The good thing is that the Uni gives us a list of what and where we will be for the year i.e uni weeks and placement weeks and leave so can try to plan our lives round that. Coffeebean |

I was wondering how people are working out with children.
I have 2 ages 4 and 2. I work part time at the moment 10-3 and MIL has the kids for me. Can i ask, when you are doing the course what happens in uni holidays? Do you do placement? Have the time off? Half and half |

Hi,
I have a son who is 20 months old. I'm working full time at the moment, so he's in nursery. MY BF works shifts and some nights as well which can make things difficult. I'm hoping to do the access certificate which is part-time and I'm going to have to work part-time as well, but I'm guessing (!) that college will just be during the day for this course so things shouldn't be too different. |

Hi I'm sure if I don't give you the right answer some lovely person will correct me but as I understand it the University (Salford anyway) give you a timetable for the year as to where you will be i.e uni / placement / study week or holiday. You get only 7 weeks holiday a year and only get to choose the two weeks you have off in the summer. The degree is different from other degrees and is longer because of placements and so you have less time off. I would think that each uni does it slightly differently and I would really recommend going to open days and asking loads of questions. Hope this helps ![]() Coffeebean
