| Hi I was wondering if anyone has any advise on funding for a midwifery degree if it is a second undergrad degree. I was a little immature when i went to university in my teens and did a 'cool' degree (fashion). I know the government has stopped funding for second undergrad degree but i read somewhere this excludes medical. Does anyone have any advise on this. Also entry qualification, my degree is a 2:1 and i have 5 A levels BBBBC but non are science, i do have sociology at a B grade. would i need any extra mathematical, science qualifications? |

| Hmmm.. This is a toughie. Those I know with a previous non-medical do not recieve a student loan at my uni, it may be different at the ones you are considering though? Re the quals, they seem fine to me. Some access courses do not have a science and sociology is relevant. My access course did not have mathematics at all. Best advice is to check the uni's you would like to go to and visit their websites to check entry criteria. Where are you interested in?

| Hi, I don't know about funding at all but I believe that GCSE maths is a must. I'm old enough to have done O' level maths and this is fine. Regarding the science, it is best to ask the quesion directly to the unis you will be applying to as they all differ and some would want a pure science. Good luck with it all anyway! |

Hi Helen When did you complete your first degree? I would ring the uni's you are thinking of applying to and ask what their entry requirements are. Depending on when you completed your first degree, you may have to enquire about funding. I do know of one person whio had some difficulties with funding as she had not long completed her first degree. All uni's have different requirements and it is always worth doing the research and getting the information from the university that you are interested in. Hope this helps. Coffeebean ![]()

| Hiya, I did my first degree in engineering, and graduated in 1994, with a PGCE tagged on the end. I had no problem getting funding for my midwifery degree (I started training in 2002). I had the required entry qualifications, but I did an A level in sociology to give evidence of recent study

| I think ensuring you have recent relevant study is the key. Perhaps look into a Human biology AS level or something if your degree is more than 3-5 yrs old (depending on uni)
