another possibility for you hun, try getting intouch with the NCT and see about doing some voluntary work with them, i'm sure they'd love to help and i'd imagine the uni's will see it as valuable experience. they do allsorts of different classes and groups so could be worth a try. good luck with whichever route you decide to take x

Firstly, sorry to hear you didn't get in.
I volunteered at a hospice (on the ward) and on the neonatal unit for the hospital. I also got work experience in maternity departments. It's a battle and a long process but so worth it as it does make a HUGE difference to getting in. I tried to get volunteer work in maternity departments, but the hospital nearest me would not take me on seeing as I hadn't had a baby! It all depends on the health care trust!

I contacted the NHS through their Careers website, asking for some information about work experience. Unfortunatley they just gave me the address of my local hospital and told me to write to the HR team there, so no infor that I didn't already have! Check out www.do-it.org. They might not have anything specifically in hospitals or nursing homes but they have some interesting voluntary projects. In my area (Devon) they're looking for assistants with Headway, a clinic for children with brain injuries which I think sounds really interesting. And check out the NHS Jobs website. They have some jobs on there for HCA and Nursing Aux-whatever-the-word-is, as well as Ward Clerks, etc. Applicaion forms take a while to fill out though! Good luck! :-)
