Help needed!! How to get experience?

I did a voluntary work eperience placement on maternity in my local hospital a few years ago.
I just phoned the trust headquarters and asked to speak to the work experience co ordinator, and went from there.
The placement was fantastic, with insights into the roles of the hca, ward clerk as well as the community and hospital based midwives.
Uni's love it when u do these placements, and keep a record of the experience you gained (like a journal)
Perhaps your local NHS trust could offer you one of these??
