I'd definately buy one, they are very inexpensive, and completely essential for right at the start, as taking BP needs alot of practice and it makes sense to do this at home. I found mine invaluable at the start, amny of our cohort bought one and did the same thing. As soon as you get the hang of it, you'll not really need it, unless you want to use your steth for placement.
