Hi guys, just found out some awful news, I have suffered from fertility probs for years and was told to have my children young and I had my daughter 3 years ago. Myself and my new partner want our own kids but we were planning to do this after I had qualified but today I have been told my condition has worsened and that if I want more kids I shouldnt wait. I really dont know what to do because if I have a child now I might not ever live my dream of becoming a Midwife due to financial constraints etc, plus the reason I started this now was because I only have part time care of my daughter as she stays with her dad half the time - making it easier for me to study. Also me and my partner have only been a couple for a year and although we have known each other for 9 years I dont think we are ready in our relationship. if I did get a place and then found out I was pregnant how easy is it to defer and what would happen if I got pregnant halfway through... do you have to start all over again??? Really dont know what to do need some advice guys.............

Oh Claire that really is awful
I am so sorry for you. I'm in no position to advise you what to do but just wanted to say I hope things work out for you.I believe someone has just joined who got a place and then had to defer because she got pregnant, so there is hope. xx

Hi Claire
So sorry to hear of your news, i know that if you did get pregnant during your course you wouldn't have to start all aover again, you could step off from the course, then re start back when ready at the point you left, i think also i am right in thinking students get maternity pay now too. Hope this helps x

Hi Claire
Sorry to hear about your dilemma & your problems. If you do decide that it's the right time for you & your new man, then go for it. There will always be ways around childcare, money issues & other stuff. Well, at least that's what I'm hoping anyway! We're currently trying for baby #3 (I'm 38 so that's one thing I don't want to put off !), and if we're lucky enough, I may still apply for 2009, or I may put off applying until 2010 or even 2011 when they'll all be a little bit older! (although it all sounds soooooo far away at the moment!)As someone said in another post, they'll always need midwives whether it's in 4 years or more. You'll only be putting it off for another year or two & you WILL get there!!! And you do get maternity leave from uni from what I've read somewhere. Good luck with whatever you decide Sharon x
