Hi Mimi, I wouldn't think it would be a problem, though I don't know where my uni stands on this.
I hope you get a definate answer

Thanks for the quick reply, yes i am very unsure about it really. Part of me thinks that it would be highly hypocritical if we were expected to be totally non judgemental of patients if we ourselves are not allowed to be how we want to be. mmm not sure where i stand on it really xx

Hmm I've heard that you can have tattoos showing as long as they're not offensive...wish I knew more!
I currently have both my feet tattooed, ankle and hip, only ones that might show are ankle and feet and neither are offensive. I will hopefully get away with a nose stud, but I think my flesh tunnels will have to come out. I agree that it shouldn't matter what you look like as long as you provide a great level of care. We're not allowed to comment on patients, not that I would as I'm not exactly "normal" looking, and it doesn't affect the care we give them. Perhaps ask your uni?

Coffeebean it's when you stretch the pierced hole. A normal piercing has a tiny hole for earrings, mine are stretched to 8mm.
Here's a picture of stretched lobes!

yeah i totally agree with what you said about how it shouldn't matter. A little butterfly is hardly offensive is it but i wouldn't want it to stop me getting a job in the future.
What a shame about your tunnels, maybe you wont have to take them out, i have my lip pierced but dont wear it most of the time so its not really an issue about taking it out. I really want my tat though !!! |

I think the design and the amount you have on show would be what affects whether the uni would have a problem with it or not, personally dont think a butterfly would be a problem.

Haha coffeebean that sounds like my mum "I see...TAKE THEM OUT YOUR EARS NOW!" lol
A butterfly is harmless, now if you got a swastika I could see there being a bit more of a fuss!
