1st day as Maternity HCA

My first day was mad,mad,mad!!
I was expecting it to be mostly paperwork and observing (like it has been in most of my other jobs in the 1st week), but noooo!!
I was in at 9, in theatre for half past for elective c section, out at half 11, did some paperwork, back in theatre at half 12 for emergency section, out at 2, then on labour ward (with a shoulder dytocia case which was quite scary but ok in the end) for rest of shift. Loved every minute xxx

Sounds fab but hectic. It's good when you enjoy your job, makes it so much better.

Glad you enjoyed your first day.

It really is a fantastic job, I'd only swap it to become a Midwife.

Oh yeah definitely! Cant believe how quick the day went.
Another 1 tomorrow- and they said today was a 'quiet' day!

Aww that sounds brilliant!! I have just tonight applied to be a Health Care Assistant on the Maternity/Gynaecology ward!!!! I soooooo hope I get it, sounds amazing!!! I don't think I will though:-( did you have any previous experience? x x x
