Can't you print off the desktop when the kids are in bed?

I finally got a reply from the open uni !!!

Basically it says you are eligable if they sent you the forms ??? ( they only issue them to you if you are in the correct criteria ! LOL )

They hope you will continue to study with ou but if you choose not to then as long as you complete the current course you do not need to repay the grant !!!

So i had already sent the forms back as my comp died at the weekend, and now i am just waiting for the news !!!

I also had a phonecall from the ou today ??? Poss from my new tutor??

All rather exciting !!!

Oh im glad they got back to you!! I started to worry as I sent my forms back then thought, what if I only do the 2 courses and not the degree!!! Thats a relief that I wouldnt have to pay it back!!!

Sorry to come into this discussion a bit late in the day. I was advised by the admissions tutor at my Uni to do an AS in Biology or similar this year with a view to applying next year. I didn't realise that open uni or similar distance learning courses were an option. Do most unis accept these as proof of recent academic study? It would be ideal for me while my LO is still little. Thanks in advance for advice part of me wants to apply now for 2009 but my chances of being accepted wouldn't be great and I'm still in turmoil about leaving my LO overnight.

Mads ...I have already comlpeted an access course ( have you looked into this option ?? ) as i didnt have any a levels and i am only doing open uni as i got turned down this year . I was advised by my uni to do this course to ' maintain the thread of study '

I would stick to what you have been told by YOUR uni as each one have different criteria .

But to put your mind at rest and to make sure you are doing the right thing perhaps ring them back ???

I know my local uni has said in the entry requirements will accept K101 anf the human biology course. But as MRW said its diff with all uni's. Might be worth ringing admissions at your uni.

Thanks hun, my situation is that as a mature student I would be considered for a place as things stand having completed a year at uni (BEd) and with my life experience and Science background (Vet Nursing 17 years) but since competition is strong she recommended doing something in the meantime. I'll contact her and see if OU courses would be acceptable. I have looked into the access courses but, again, I would rather study at home if it's an option.
