This is what I was talking about in my intro post about the midwife who has been practicing for so long and taking care of the Amish and Plain communities. It's awful, the courts are calling her irresponsible and negligent and painting her to be some crazy woman who doesn't know what she's doing. I'm afraid this is going to add fuel to the 'midwife hunt' fire.

History of midwifery in the US is painful since the turn of the century. At one point in time, midwives were all but extinct in this country. It was absolutely illegal. Still, there were some women who felt that the service they provided to poor and underprivileged women was too great and practiced in secret. There is still a lot of that going on in several states.

Gosh, the poor woman who the hell do the government think they are to take over a womans body, blimey in this country its classified as a breach of an individuals human rights and also you could get any number of charges against you as a midwife if you DO NOT support the woman , thus being negligent in your duty of care.
I hope the situation improves over there, they should appreciate the face that short and long term the state are saving money by having people like her around x

It is very sad, and especially as this is the "Land of the Free" it's incredible just how much the government has decided to control us. We have a lot of crooked politicians and judges who decide to do things based on what they want and not what is best amongst the people. We have no choice in what kind of care to get for our children, very little say in if we want to vaccinate or not, very little choice in care for ourselves during pregnancy and little say with what kind of birth we want. Basically, we're cows that line up to give birth and heaven help us if we take longer than the doctor has.....

Okay, rant over!
