Default Midwifery in Ireland?

I'm just wondering what the course is like? I'm hoping to get a place for the 18 month top up starting in March 2009. i was also wondering about flexibility in the roster (as I think you are full time rostered) as I'm getting married in Rome in May but we will put it off if I get a place and if they won't allow me to take some holidays.
