Default tags.. what are they and how do i use them?

Some of you will have noticed that all threads now have a 'tags' box above. You may also have noticed when posting a new thread there is a box for you to provide tags.

What should I use as tags?

Firstly, let me point out that tags are not critical but they do help us in bringing an extra level of classification to the site. Forum based websites can within a short space of time become huge. The bigger they get the harder it becomes to find information. The tag system combats this to a large extent.

When you create a thread please try and add some relevant tags... exactly what tags you use is entirely up to you.

This thread for instance is tagged with 'tags, tagging, search'.
A thread about student bursaries may be tagged with 'bursary, finance, money'
A thread about continuity of care in the maternity services may be tagged with 'continuity, care, benefits, maternity services'

Clearly some areas of the site do not warrant tags - the introductions forum is clearly one of these.

I hope you can all help the site by using these tags and if anyone has any questions regarding the benefits, or use of tags then please let me know.

Cheers all!

J ™ - I've just tried to add tags to a new thread, but then got a message to say that tags can only be three characters long.

The words I tried to add were: "cannulation" and "on-going training".

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I think they need to be at least 3 characters long. Maybe it counted the hypenation as two seperate words... I can see the thread you mean.. I will try and add the tags (oh, I dont think it likes it if you end with a comma)

Off to check.....

I just added them without issue using a hyphen....

I will keep an eye open for this... could you let me know if you have any further issues?
This is a new feature so I hope you can bear with me during any teething trouble.
