Default Group B Strep Support

We are working with Group B Strep Support (GBSS) to raise awareness of GBS among students as many of you have said you arent sure what it is and what it can do. They have sent us some information to send out to you when you get your starter pack etc so you will now find that anytime you order from the shop you will recieve Group B Strep information and a lovely free pen! Some of you will already have yours as we started sending them out last week please take the time to read through the information.

They are reviewing our glossary term for GBS and will keep us up to date with any changes in research treatment and care. Why not get a head start and look at the glossary definition or take a look here... www.gbss.org.uk

Fab website this, bit of a grey area in practice too, but thats just my opinion, we need further consistency and better guidelines rolled out into all Trusts!

I agree Tb but its amazing how many students havent heard of GBS or if they have they arent sure what it is and what it can do to newborns, so we said we'd hep in raising awareness. Plus the grey areas in practice mean good debate, but I agree there needs to be consistency and a basic knowledge out there, at least.

I had never heard of it until on the access course. One lady did a presentation on it as two of her babies died with it.

Excellent website, and great they are around for new info and advice, esp like the idea of leaflet and pen in the pack too. Great.

There seems to be huge differences in knowledge and evidence based management too.

That is a great webiste J ™,

Thanks for posting that link, I have saved it for future reference.

I have come across this quite often in placement, and had never heard of it before, so it is great to learn more about it.
