With the new NMC Code of Conduct (May 1st 2008) students and midwives need to be very careful about their activities online so that they do not identify themselves, their cohort, colleagues, University, Trust or clients.
We have put together a guideline document which clarifies the sections of the NMC code that extends to your online personas on StudentMidwife.NET, Facebook, Myspace, etc and have provided some settings that you can go through on each site to check everything is set up correctly for your privacy. Please note, this guideline is advisory only and you are under no obligation to heed the advice contained herein. The document has been written by myself, a professional Internet Consultant who has closely studied the NMC guidelines for your benefit and we have liased with senior midwives regarding their interpretation. Following the advice of this guideline document will ensure you, your University, your Trust, colleagues and your clients are protected from being identified online. Feel free to distribute this document. You may download the document here. For a full background on this matter please see TallPoppy's announcement here http://www.studentmidwife.net/studen...our-place.html

Facebook is really tricky to do effectively as they have trillions of applications with seperate settings running off the core framework (the basic site) but Rob explains it all very well and talks you through what you need to do.
