..... for wanabe's/new students applying to your University? whether your Uni operates a buddying system or not, I am proposing a buddying system of members of student midwife network to support wanabe's and new students at your University. In time the programme will be rolled out to the Unis that dont have a system, but for now Im piloting it here, so be one if the first! You'll have a lovely certificate for your CAP doc and will be helping others fulfil their dreams...

It will be as involved as you want it to be...

Here are some suggestions...

Contact via this site and support with orientation of process of applying, help with personal statements, general encouragement and friendship

Chats via msn or email

Meet up, chats, coffee, show them around your Uni or site

All of the above plus whatever feels right i.e. my unofficial buddys and I ate far too much pudding and drank to much rather often and they are now two of my best gals (and are mentors on my site now and both RM's).

From a good deed can come great friendship.

If you are interested in being buddy'ed up please let me know via this thread or PM, I will need to know your Uni and year.

Thanks Missy, youd be great at it btw I should have said any Brighton wanabes and newbies... feel free to get in touch with me. We are planning a get together in the new year probably, which will involve a few of us local gals and whoever wants to come along for something to eat, a few bevoirs and lots of saying placenta out loud in public places and talking about VE's with our fingers. Ah! Dory, those were the days LOL

Thanks smwife unofficially yes I do see it in the clinical side but that would be better with the Unis on board. Ive written a proposal about the buddying system including training pack, certificate for CAP doc etc which I will roll out to Uni's in time (well those that dont have it anyway). I discussed this with my Uni last year.

But for now Id like to get it underway here......

Definatley is a Danish thing, its an anywhere in the world thing! if you have students from you uni or wanabes from your uni who are members of this site then buddy away!! It would also help those students from other countries who may be applying to study elsewhere, a friend of mine was living in Spain when she applied to the UK....
