Do you think women would write about their experience if they felt they had "failed" at hypnobirthing? I think they are much more likely to write, singing it's praises. Who knows, these women may have coped very well anyway?

Going on my NCT experience again, I know of several women who have done hypnobirthing training plus the NCT coures. They say that NCT were far more realistic and that hypnobirthing was a waste of their money. Purely anecdotal, but it does make me question the training.

Not my sister-in-law! Believe me, she's a big wuss and makes a huge drama out of everything, she can't even go to the dentist without mummy to hold her hand and still being traumatised afterwards, if hypnobirthing can work for her, it can work for anyone!

I'm only going on anecdotal evidence too, but on the evidence of those who have actually tried it in practice.

Plus, as a scientist, I do believe the theory behind it is incredibly sound.

Also, my friend who is pregnant, went to the baby show recently and she said it was recommended at the NCT stand.

It's good to know that it works for some. Perhaps I have seen an unrepresentative sample of people who have been disasppointed by the method.

Maybe, or maybe I've only heard about an unrepresentative sample. Who knows? After all, you're right, a woman having a painful birth is hardly newsworthy regardless of the pain management method she used.

I know I'd like to find out more about ihypnobirthing, until then I'll keep an open mind as to whether it's successful or not.
