Hello friends, I am 22 years old and currently doing one year accounting degree, I have never applied anywhere, and I have no idea how to begin signing up for student loans. Any way now I'm thinking about changing my course. If I apply at the same university, but do a different degree next year, will I still receive a student loan and a maintenance grant for the next year? Please answer me and help me out as possible. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the site first of all, as for changing your degree I am not sure how that would work, and if you do want to do midwifery I would recommened that you apply to more that one uni as it is extreamly popular course with very limited places,
do you have a welfare officer at your uni? if you do then I am sure they should be able to tell you if you'd be entitled to bursary loans etc,

Hi Karla,

Welcome to the site.

Sorry I can't help with your questions about changing degree and finances, but there is a section on here (in the applications section I think) that covers finances, bursaries etc, that may help you work it out.

If not the bursary website may have the info you need. Good luck in whatever you decide.

hi Karla

with regards your funding.... midwifery and other healthcourses is financed completey different to other courses so having previous student loans shouldnt affect your bursary on a midwifery programme.

Hi Karla!

Welcome to the site and good luck with changing your course.

Some people at my uni have not been accepted for student loans due to previous degrees, despite the fact it apparently does not apply to healthcare courses.

I don't know how easy or difficult it would be to change courses, you would probably have to apply directly and follow the same process as other midwifery applicants.

Apologies if anyone else has posted the same/different I never read all the posts!
