15 Places at Uni - Do I Stand a Chance?
Hi everyone, This is my first post on the website. I came across the site whilst reasearching midwifery.
I've just spoken to a lady from a uni in my area and they only accept 15 students a year. Over 100 applied last year. That seems so daunting. I want to give myself the best chance i can when i apply next year, so any advice anyone?

thats not too bad, some uni's have about 20-30 places with 1000 applicants, so you stand a reasonable chance!!xxx

Thanks that makes me feel better. I suppose its just about getting as much knowlege and experience, then writing a blinding personal statement to start with.

hi and welcome to the site, there is lots of infomation on personal statments on here, (it in the wannabes section) myself and a few of the other girls have possted ours, so feel free to have a look, you may get some good ideas,

Yeah there are some fab personal statements in the wannabe section to give you a bit of an idea of the structure and what to include etc x

why cant one of them places have youor name on it, in my uni they had over 500+ applications for 20 places and i got in you are in the right place for help and advice any questions and feel free to ask, someone on this fab site will be able to helpl you

Hiya hun!
Welcome to the site! You will find so much to help you on here with your application, you came to the right place! Any questions you feel you need to ask too, everyone's got something they can help you with! Don't be disheartened by the small amount of places, you can do it! Just do your research and read!! Might be a good idea to subscribe to the practising midwife journal. Its £25 a year and you get one every month. It's a good way to keep up to date with everything relevant to midwifery such as news and things! Where I applied to, there were 22 places, and over 500 applicants and I got a place along with afew other lovely girls on this site  so it IS POSSIBLE & YOU CAN DO IT! haha!Emma x x x

You just have to give it your best shot! If we all worried about the numbers thing then we wouldn't apply! Just make sure you do the best PS that you can and that you do you5r application as soon as you can. Best of luck!! Coffeebean
