Sorry Cariblue, childcare is something you have to arrange yourself. Most people use nurseries, childminder's or family, with a few others having a live-in au-pair. You can claim for childcare allowance to help towards the cost but it has to be from a registered childcare provider such as a childminder or nursery.

Good Luck!

Hello!

The easiest way to put it is your children are your responsibility so childcare is something you have to arrange yourself. There should be nurseries/breakfast clubs around, plus childminders can be flexible! Some wards may be quite flexible with childcare issues, though you will have to work the shifts of your mentor most of the time.

I'm starting in September and only really have a nursery thats open 8am-6pm and mother in law who is willing to pick the boy up occassionally.. but other than that... thats my childcare as OH is in the police. I'll have to work around his shifts as the only childcare I have that can be used if his shifts clash is the nursery.

Its gonna be tough, I can't deny that... But it is workable! I hope!

Hi - yes I agree it's a concern for me too. I'm hoping to start a 2 yr access course in Sept and I have 2 boys currently aged 1 and 3 so by the time I'm hoping to start uni in Sep 2010 they'll be 3 and 5 (but almost 6) so I'd definitely need childcare for my youngest, OH does a "9-5" job so he'll be around evenings/weekends/nights - my parents (although still working full time at present) only live 2 mins away and do help out a lot so I'm just hoping I can juggle childcare between OH, my parents and nursery!! It's going to be a challenge but as they say...."where there's a will there;s a way"!! LOL
