the dlc is the same as the usual colleges - you get 60 credits overall mixture of level 3 and 2 mostly level 3 though. You can take additional units to bring your credits up higher. The course is divided into individual subject areas such as maths, communication, child development, human biology etc etc some uni's prefer you to have more credits in a specific area - you can discuss all this with your tutor at the dlc as there are a few chioces you can make with regards to the modules. Some are compulsory modules and the rest are choices.

Sorry didnt mean to cause confusion.

But even the careers woman at my college got confused i had to correct her !!!

I think certain uni's have too many apllicants and so are raising 'the bar' ( i hate that expression....so x factor!) to try and disuade too many people applying. Thats what appears to be happening in my neck of the woods anyway.

hi there just wanted to say thank you!! for all your advice, i have spoken to the dlc and this is what they said;

we offer 9 credits of human biology but we can also offer stress and stress management as it deals with the immune system can you get Leeds to confirm this is ok?
thanks

do you guys think this will be ok? i already did stress at a-level psychology so it should be a breeze to do it again! im kinda surprised they dont offer more biology modules!

I'd speak to Leeds, Annie.

Do they have any other science?

  • You do not have to take exactly the modules listed here. The best option is to discuss these with your tutor as you progress through the course. You can change your initial choices. Download the Course Handbook to find out more about the contents of each Module.
If you do not wish to take a full Access Course (60 Credits) you may pick any of the modules and these can be added to any existing Access Credits you already have. Upon completion of the assessments you will be awarded a certificate for the credits you achievE
Compulsory Modules
  • English and Communications (Credits: 6 at Level 2 & 6 at Level 3)
  • Maths and Statistics (Credits: 6 at Level 2 & 6 at Level 3)
"Critical" Recommendations
  • Child Development and Welfare (Credits: 9 at Level 3)
  • Human Biological Systems (Credits: 9 at Level 3)
Other Recommendations (choose 2)
  • Social Conflict (Credits: 9 at Level 3)
  • The Self and Social Skills (Credits: 9 at Level 3)
  • Stress and Stress Management (Credits: 9 at Level 3)
Additional Choices
  • Adulthood, Adolescence & Old Age (Credits: 9 at Level 3)
  • Education (Credits: 12 at Level 3)
  • Psychopathology (Credits: 9 at Level 3)
  • Work Experience (Credits: 12 at Level 3)
Optional Module
  • Information Technology (Credits: 9 at Level 2)
this is copied from dlc website..
