| Hi Appletree and welcome! You would have to check with your chosen uni/s to see what their requirements are, you may well not need any other quals as you have a degree as it does not always have to be related! you may or may not get a student loan, depends on your Local Education Authority and their criteria. You will be able to get an NHS bursary to help with living costs and childcare though. We have a universities list so you can visit the uni/s website directly from there (under the tab more at the top of the page) and check out the sm2b section on applications, interviews and open days. Anything you need, there is always someone around to help you, so just shout!

| Hello ![]() If you check with the local universities as smwife has already said you can check their entry requirements, I rang round all mine and asked them personally what requirements they needed. Donna x XX x

| it depends on your income (i.e what your husband earned the year beofre applying) the NHS will assist with living costs that allow for mortgage or rent costs, but it is dependent on his income Check out the site to see what you could receive, click on the link below http://www.nhspa.gov.uk/sgu/

| hi appletree i have a degree in forensic science and ive rang admissions for about 6 unis and it shows that you can study at that level so they do accept it, you can get funding as its from the nhs, i rang nhs student finance about this, the midwifery degree has nothing to do with the normal student finance that u would have got with your history degree, Nottingham, northumberland and teeside prefered students with no degree as it looks like you have just changed your mind and dont really know what u want 2 do, sheffield hallam and northampton were really good about it and saw it as a positive thing!!! where are u applying to? sarah x |

| Hi and welcome. I can't really add anything extra to what the others have said, except that if this is your dream, you will find a way of doing it! Good luck to you. KS x

| Hi there I live in S cambs, so from the list of unis I think Bedford may be best! Does anyone know anything about the course there etc? The more I think about midwifery and the more I find out about it, the more it appeals, the only thing that has put me off over the years is the thought of horrible old battle axe midwives! I encountered a few with the birth of my daughter who, quite frankly, made the experience something very upsetting and scary! (well, more scary than it already was!!) I don't know how I would deal with them on a professional basis! x x x |
