I too am having this dilemma because my daughter will be 4 (also very hard to believe!!) But does not start school til the following year as her bday is sep 7th!!!
haha but I have decided to apply next year because I dont know for definite whether I will get in first time as the competition is so hard as we know. And I don't fancy waiting 3 years incase I don't get in for 2010! I have been a stay at home mum and will continue to be until she is 4 so I think that is a good age to get on with my life and do something for me too. Plus I cant wait another 2 years!!!hehe. I won't be dis-heartened if I don't get in first time. I am a strong believer in things happening for a reason so we will just have to see and if I don't get in first time then It wasn't meant to go that year, I will get loads of experience and perhaps do an extra short course then re-apply the following year!! I will do it eventually but I believe it will happen when it is meant to hehe x x x x Last edited by elliesmummy; 01-Jul-2008 at 15:48. |

I am applying for 2009 entry but may not even get in as you say. I would like another baby next year so if i get in i may defer until 2010. You could always defer if you get a place and change your mind. x

I'm itching to get started but I can only do my access course part time which will take 2yrs so I'll be applying 2010 - my boys will be almost 5 and 3 1/2 by the time I get there!!

Hi!
Not wanting to put a damper on things but I'd just suggest checking with the uni's you are interested in whether they'll let you defer as several that I've looked at state that deferred entry is not possible on Midwifery courses. xx

Ooh ok sorry everyone as it's available at the ones i have looked at just presumed they all would be. I think you have to have a good reason why you NEED to defer though, check with uni's as FMKirby says xx

Hi
Definitely go for it! I was having the same thoughts too about 2009 or 2010. My 2 will be 3 1/2 and 2 next year, (so 4 1/2 & 3 the following year). But I too am itching to get started, so I've decided to do my access course now, then apply for 2009 and see how I get on as I'd rather be starting it all now. Good luck Sharon x

Another one in the same position! Mine will be 2 & 6 (and nearly 17, but let's not go there!) in 2009 but as I will be sooo old I reckon the sooner I get started the better! Plymouth don't let you defer but I intend to try one more time if I don't get in for 2009. IMO there's never an ideal time to start and with kids it will always be accompanied by loads of hassle and oodles of guilt so bring it on, I say!
