Executive Shadowing, please help!!
In our college we're all required to do executive shadowing and of course i would pick the career that i know nobody in! I'm hoping to follow around a midwife for a week but i don't know any in or around my area..in fact, i don't know any anywhere!
I live in the North West....Warrington/St Helens area if anybody could help me or has any ideas?
Thanks,
Rachel

Re: Executive Shadowing, please help!!
Rachel, you may find it difficult, I'm afraid! It's our Elf and Safety gone-mad culture that makes it fairly unlikely that you would be able to work with an NHS midwife. Please ladies, tell me I'm wrong!!!
Your best bet might be to look in the Yellow Pages or online for Independent Midwives in your area. They might be more amenable / able to have you shadow them. If you have no joy there, how about getting in touch with someone from one of the ancillary roles, such as a doula, or a breastfeeding support specialist? Best of luck! xxx

If you live near a Children's Centre it may be worthwhile going in and asking if you could shadow one of their midwives.

Re: Executive Shadowing, please help!!
Hii I'm from St Helens and I will be starting with Home Start in september, befriending and supporting families who may need that extra little bit of help, it's not exactly midwifery related but it has the similar things, for example working with families and women etc.
Also the nearest independent midwives are based in Ashton so not too far x x x x

Try voluntary work at your local hospital too.
