Hi,
Well what I am confused about is......... is it better to do an access course (have an interview tomorrow), or a levels in English and Biology, as well as the OU course (K101), that I have applied to do. I have to do the course part time as I have a 4 year old, almost 3 year old, and an 8 week old. SO the access course would take two years, but if I do the other courses biology is 2 evenings a week, and English 1 evening, and obviously the OU course is distant learning, all of these are one year long, and I know I can manage it. With my other qualifications I would have enough points, but would a university find an access course more acceptable? Also my other worry is that I have read if I do an access course I might not have enough biology points, i think that is what I have read.v Advice any one PLEASE?

It sounds to me as though as you have enough points there is no reason why the courses you have chosen are not acceptable, as long as you have checked the requirements with your uni, they accept all means of gaining the required points.
Some access course had no biology module and these were acceptable (those in my cohort did these) They do not prefer one method over another generally (well, according to my uni as they have many different means of accepting educational points accrued) Isay do the course including the OU etc that take a year as you know you can do it and that you'll have the credits necessary! Good luck with it, Tasha. And don't worry!

I would agree that access is just a different way of getting the points needed and as long as you checkout that these other courses fulfil entry requirements for you chosen uni's then go for them! Why take 2 years when you can do it in 1?
Good luck! x

Hi Tasha
I would suggest that you ring the University that you are interested in ask them if they would accept what you are planning to do and I would get them to email that to you. Good luck.

To point out though... Most unis I've spoken to do actually have specific biology requirements out of Access now. My uni didn't when I applied (2 others did) but as of this application cycle they wany at least 12 credits in biology with a passmark of 70%. Double check the access you're applying to has the required amount of everything that the unis you're applying to will want.
Good luck xx
