Question Volunteering experience

I'm hoping to volunteer to care for disabled children and young adults over the summer holidays for a couple of days because i've never done this before and I think it would be a great privledge to work and help people from all walks of life.
I know it might seem like a silly question but would this be appropriate work experience to help my application with midwifery ?

I'm also looking to volunteer in my local hospital a couple of days per week or shadowing a midwife ( probably independant) which I know can be difficult. Are there any other ways I could get some work experience?

Thanks

Default Re: Volunteering experience

Hi, I think volunteering in any care sector, is evidence that you are prepared to get an insight into a caring environment, not matter that it is not related.

I voluneer for homestart and have been looking after a family for a number of months. I have tried to get into various trusts on maternity, but nobody seems to take volunteers any more. Not in my area anway.

The NCT is another good organisation to help with too. Good insight into childbirth experience and they are always crying out for volunteers.

Hope this helps!
