Hi, i am wanting to study midwifery at uni, but in my GCSEs at school, i got 3 x C's and 3 x D's.
I think an access course would be the best thing to do, but would i definately have to redo 2 of my GCSEs? or is there other courses i could do instead of these? My problem is, it would cost me quite a lot upfront to re-do my GCSEs, but an access course would be fine, or the introduction to HE and foundation studies (HE) would be good and cheaper for me too. It is the upfront outlay that is the problem. Thanks in advance

I had D's in maths and science and didn't have to redo any of them, access covered the entry requirements for me!
My best advice would be to phone the uni you're interested in and ask them though, don't take my word for it! xx

Definatly ring up the uni's you think you would apply to so you can ask them what qualifications they are looking for from you.
I did the access course but i also had to re-do my maths as i only got a E at school, maths wasnt covered in my access course so you would have to find out if it would be covered in the access course you would be enrolled on. As for the cost, im not too clued up because i didnt have to pay for my access course, you would have to find out if you were elegable to do the course for free, i think it depends on your household income?! Good luck XXXXXXXXXX

Maths was included in my access course so that's why I didn't have to do it, should've made myself more clear in my first reply... Saying that, it was 1am and the brain was a bit fried..

Thanks everyone, its 12 years since i left school, and sometimes i think i must be quite dim as i just don't get all these qualifications needed at all! i will phone up the Uni and ask direct.
So does anyone know id the DLC access course covers maths etc? |

You're not dim, it's very confusing! Especially as all universities seem to want different things. Phoning and asking directly is a good idea, then you can sure of what they want. Good luck x
