Default Yipee!

Hi all

So pleased and excited that I have arrangd some voluntary work! It won't be til sept time because of my CRB check, but that suits me too! I can chose my hours which is great, and I can chose from DAU, NICU or (there was another good option but I forget!) They pay my travel costs and parking costs and I get a free meal for each shift too.

Also and perhaps the best bit, is that I will be "looked after" by a retired midwife who comes and works on voluntary basis, who will sort out all my work there and looks after all the volunteers. I bet she will be great to talk to! There are about 3 other volunteers doing what I want to do, plus a bunch of student midwives. So i will hopefully get a real feel for things.

Will only be making tea, chatting, answering phone and running little errands etc, but I am so excited about it and sure it will look good on my uni applications too. Another benefit is that it will be great to get out and about on my own a bit, and good practise for my hubby and I to swop roles a bit!! Am so excited I am rethinking my plans for applying in 2010, and think I may go for 2009! gulp!

I thought it was lucky too, I asked the volunteer manager about it and said aren't people desperate for these spots??!! She didn't seem to think so! Maybe people don't know they are about!
