Ive not done it but Ive heard that it is a good first course to do with the OU as it gives you an overall feel for the course and gently re-introduces you to self directed study if you haven't done any for a while. Im doing the K100 at the minute and its been really good, I cant recommend the OU enough for fitting in around work, family etc.

Hi, I did that course last September - I found it really interesting and there was lots of support available, online from other students and the tutor on the telephone! It was my first distance course and was definitely worth doing. I think we were expected to spend around eight hours a week studying and had to submit three assignments which comprised of tasks like summarising text, bullet pointing information, reading tables and short essays. I'm still with the OU - can't rate them highly enough!

No I didn't have any day schools - I think it depends on the course though - OH is also studying with the OU and he's had a few but they haven't been compulsory and only a few students have turned up for them. From what he's said they are pretty informal but offer a chance to get to meet your tutor.

Thanks...i will email them and find out if they are compulsory ( sp??) as i will have to travel quite a distance to see my tutor when i can speak to them on the phone ?? xx

Ha ha thanks!
From my limited experience I wouldn't expect they'd be compulsory - I think they're usually just an add on if you can make them - the tutors are pretty good and are available by phone and email anyway to help you through any problems - good luck with your course! xx |
