Not without a midwife (our mentor), until (our uni anyway) we do community caseloading with midwife support in the third year in a team of two or more students usually.

Did I get the right end of the stick?

My mentor said if I was back with them on my next comm placement I'd be doing visits and clinics by myself... But it's not til next summer - and that was before she said she had an application for John Lewis's in her bag for me - so maybe she's changed her mind!!!

I can't drive either, so either I would have to be placed with someone who does, or I couldn't possibly do it.

This is true of my uni too, your first semester of your last year, you are supervised for a week or two, signed off by your mentor, given your own equipment and visit women on your own during the day. You then report back to your mentor at the end of the day, so you're not totally in your own.

By the time you get there you will (hopefully) be more experienced anyway. The thought terrifies me too, but it's also quite exciting because you're so independent! x
