Default Entry requirements... A levels?

Sorry its me again (bet your sick of me now lol).

Starting access course next week.

On uni websites it says aswell as that you need alot of GCSE's which I have in C's. But also says need 1 or 2 A levels?

I have qualifications but no idea if any can be classed as A level or if I have what I will need to get in? If I list them please can you help?

Also says you need "experience" how do you gain that?

My qualifications are:-

GCSE Mathematics - C
GCSE English Language - C
GCSE English Literature - C
GCSE Double Science - C C
GCSE Child Development - C
GCSE French - C
GCSE Design Technology - C

Diploma in ChildCare Education

ILM Introduction to Management

Thanks, and sorry for all the posts I've done today x

Hiya! Please don't apologise for asking questions - that's what we're here for!

An Access course is usually sufficient for entry on its own. You will study at Level 3, which is A Level standard and therefore you do not require separate A Levels.

It sounds like the entry requirements you've looked at on the website are aimed at school leavers, rather than mature students taking an Access course.

I would strongly advise you to contact your chosen university and check with them whether the Access course will be an acceptable qualification for entry. They'll be able to tell you exactly what subjects and credits you will require. It's best to check before you start, because if you do need to do something else you don't want to waste your time.

Good luck; let us know how you get on, and carry on asking away!!

It says on both university websites that the access course is "additional" though my tutor at enrolement for the access course said english and maths gcse and access course may be fine.

I will give them a ring x

It's definitely worth checking to put your mind at rest; I'd be surprised if they didn't take the Access as I'm sure most universities will accept it. Let me know what they say,

Hiya

I dunno if this helps but i dont have an A level to my name! I have two occupational diplomas in relevent subjects and all universities i have applied to confirmed that they are more than enough to satisfy the entry requirements as they demonstrate the level of study (3&4) and also include relevent subject content.

Saying that i have only just applied and have no interviews yet lol! Heres hoping!

A xxx

If you are doing the Access course at Tameside College then it is accepted by both Manchester and Salford.

Access plus Maths and English is usually sufficient if your Access has enough biology at level 3 to satisfy individual unis
