Hi. They usually tailor the access course to meet the exact requriements for entry to uni. They have so many credits at level 3, so many at level to, all equalling to the amount the uni want. When you start your access course they usually give you a sheet telling you how many credits each module is worth.Hope this helps.Sian x

Hiya, to make sure it's a good idea to check with you college to make sure you have the required credits at level one and two. As SB says they are usually tailored to get you into uni, but some uni's have different requirements, so best to check and put your mind at rest!

I would definitely check with your college exactly how many credits you're getting for each module. Also, are you not doing a life science such as Biology or Anatomy? I would also check with your uni that this is not an essential requirement, as I believe that some universities need you to have studied Biology or similar to A Level standard.

Good luck and enjoy the Access course!

I ditto the biology bit... my access course was tailored specifically to those wanting to apply for health professions course... such as midwifery, nursing, dental technician etc. I would definately check this out with the uni's you want to apply to.

My access course had more than 4 modules. We had Maths (if you had a GCSE you were put into higher maths as maths on my access course was only marked to GCSE grade which is level 2 and the higher gave a level 3 grade), Human Physiology, Sociology/psychology (which ever you preferred), English and study skills, IT and there was another one called Issues for professionals where we covered all the ethnics and things like that in the hEalth Profession.

My access course had 3 main subjects that were then separated into individual modules. The main subjects were Human biology, Health Professions and Study skills. These were all at level 3 only. Some of the others did do level 2 modules the previous year (I didnt cos I already had some GCSE's) they did maths, english, physics, chemistry and biology and also study skills all at level 2.

Hope this helps

Ensure you have some kind of Biology on your Access. Its normally specified by unis.
