Hi all

I was hoping someone could confrim how many referees you have to provide on your UCAS form?

Also...
I would like to submit my application as an individual, becuase my previous academic qualifications demonstrate my ability to study at a higher level (even though i'm currently doing the access course in college). Is this allowed, or do i have to apply through my college??? Please help

hiya

i think its 2 referees you need.

as you are at college im not sure where you stand applying as an individual im sure someone can help there. wouldnt you be best having a reference from your college its not only academic they also know you as an individual.

good luck with the course and your application xx

thanks for the info. Would rather apply as an individual because i have an experienced midwife i would like to nominate, rather than a lectureer who will only have known me for a few weeks, thats all

speak to your college they will be able to guide you

i was told ideally you need an academic reference ie from college and a character reference in your case i would say the midwife you know would be a fantastic reference for that.

We were told our first reference was to be a current academic one if we were enrolled at college and the second one should really be a work one or someone who knows you from a working environment.. ie vol work etc.

It's just one ref on the ucas form. Most uni's will ask for the name of a 2nd one later. They like one academic and one employer but will take personal ref from somoone you have known for 2 or more yrs and is not afriend. hth

Good luck with your application!

This is what i am doing. My midwife who is helping me with my application said she would be a referee for me. As my mum pointed out last night, although I finished uni last June, I have had a baby more recently involving my midwife. She knows me better than a lecturer who only has my grades in front of her!

Hi

I will only be starting my DLC Access to Midwifery Course next week so don't really want to put down the tutor who won't really know me or my academic ability quite yet. And as I'm quite keen to get my UCAS form down I don't know who to put. A friend who is Head of Midwifery at the hospital where I used to work has offered as she knows me on an employee level. Should I put her down? Who have the other girlies doing the DLC put down on their UCAS forms?

Oh, crazy chick you crazy chick, your situations is exactly the same as mine!!!...v.weird.

I contacted the university i wish to apply to and they told me it had to be an academic reference, which i'm gutted about. How can someone who has known me 8 weeks supply such a critical part of the application form over someone who devlivered my baby and has encourraged me to purse my dream? Its so unfair!!!
